Ez a gyakorlattípus arra ad lehetőséget, hogy olyan kompetenciákat mérjünk, amelyek csak csoportos körülmények esetén nyilvánulhatnak meg. Ki hogyan tud érvelni, ki tudja meggyőzni a másikat, ki veszi át a csoport irányítását, kitől származnak az ötletek: mind olyan készség, amit a legjobb természetes közegében tanulmányozni. Az SHL sokféle csoportos gyakorlattal rendelkezik, s a legtöbb ezek közül arra is alkalmas, hogy a megrendelő speciális igényéhez igazítsuk.

"The Launch" Group exercise

Participants represent the UK marketing team for an international pharmaceutical company. The task is to draw up a business case and marketing plan for the launch of a new product into Europe. Participants are given information relating to the new product and its position within both the company’s existing product portfolio and the external market. The marketing plan should include a financial assessment, covering projected sales, profitability and anticipated A & P spend.

"Factory Production Schedule" Group exercise

Participants assume the roles of team leaders who are working on the design of a new factory that will produce garden furniture. The group is given a plan of the factory site and empty building and needs to put together a detailed design of the layout of the future factory. Participants are given information about the production process, likely number of deliveries, employees, budget available, space constraints and legal and Health & Safety requirements.

"Banco Damasco Group" exercise

Participants assume the roles of senior managers working for a European banking group, which recently acquired a retail bank in Brazil (Banco Damasco). Banco Damasco has been under-performing, but due to the severe shortage of potential acquisitions in Brazil, the European bank decided to go ahead with the deal. The participants’ task is to develop a strategy for growing the bank’s business. They are given background information about Brazil, the industry, the banking group, Banco Damasco and options available for expansion.

"Royal Borough of Thamesbridge" Group exercise

For what purpose?: 
Individual or group: 

Participants join the management team of a local authority, and are asked to consider the effect of a set of circumstances on the authority’s corporate plan. Unassigned role play exercise: all candidates receive the same information and have to work toghether to reach a common decision.

"The European Question" Group exercise

For what purpose?: 
Individual or group: 

A British pharmaceutical factory is planning to extend towards Europe. The participants are provided with the basic parameters of the products and the European market, and have to decide in which country and according to what criterions to start consumer research. The European Question is an assigned role exercise. These exercises usually result in a more vivid argument between participants than unassigned role exercises.

"Nord Gas" Group exercise

For what purpose?: 
Individual or group: 

In this group exercise, participants have to play a team of external consultants who give strategic advice to a factory. Nord Gas is an unassigned role exercise. These exercises (due to all participants having the same role) are fairer than assigned role exercises.

"Bronzo" Group exercise

For what purpose?: 
Individual or group: 

A pharmaceutical company is about to launch a new product. The participants have to discuss conditions of the market, costs of advertisement, ethical questions etc., and decide whether launching the new product is indeed worthwhile. Bronzo is an unassigned role exercise. These exercises (due to all participants having the same role) are fairer than assigned role exercises.
