"Goodwell Systems" Analysis exercise

Working for an IT consultancy, the participant is asked to devise a resourcing plan to ensure that the needs of each of the two new big contracts are met. Options include using contractors or training internal staff using quick, but expensive, training or longer-term study on the job with skilled personnel. The options has varied cost, timescale and sustainability implications.

"Glebel Analysis" Analysis exercise

The participant takes the role of the newly appointed Managing Director of a Division of Glebel Foods, a fast moving consumer goods company. Two of the product Divisions (Biscuits and Snackfoods), are performing well, but the third is not achieving its potential. The participant has been appointed to improve results and take steps to grow the business in that Division. He/she is asked to review a range of papers including: income statement and forecast; sales results; customer survey results; a proposal to relocate a factory; and a leadership audit.

"Banco Damasco" Analysis exercise

The participant takes on the role of a senior manager in an European banking group, that recently acquired a retail bank in Brazil. He/she has been seconded to a branch the bank has chosen to become a ‘concept branch’ due to its location. The board of the banking group has asked for a review of the branch, to ensure that the initiative is a success. Information provided includes a branch P&L, product/customer information, employee issues, an internal fraud allegation, bad credit issues, local demographic data and industry trends.

Die Abkürzung UCF basiert auf der Abkürzung des Universal Competency Framework und dem neuen Kompetenzmodell der SHL Group. Einer seiner großen Vorteile ist, dass es sehr flexibel ist. Der Kompetenzfragebogen kann bearbeitet werden: Auf der Grundlage des Gesprächs mit den Vertretern des Unternehmens, das die Prüfung bestellt, kann man aus den 20 auswählbaren Kompetenzen der 5-10 Kompetenzen auswählen, die am meisten dem Unternehmen interessiert sind. Es verkürzt die Dauer der Untersuchung erheblich.

Zkratka UCF znamená "Universal Competency Framework" (Univerzální kompetenční model), což je novým kompetenčním modelem SHL Group. Jednou z jeho výhod je značná flexibilita, tj. kompetenční dotazník lze editovat. Na základě konzultace se zástupci společnosti, která si objednává hodnocení, vybereme z 20 kompetencí těch 5 až 10 kompetencí, které firmu nejvíce zajímá, což podstatně zkracuje dobu vyplňování. Kromě obvyklého hodnocení kompetencí je možné zahrnout i otázky týkající se toho, do jaké míry zkoumaný manažer a jeho nadřízený považují zkoumané kompetence za důležité.

Universal Competency Framework (UCF)

It is based on the UCF20 competency model. It provides a holistic 360-degree view of an employee by gathering feedback from the employee’s manager, peers, direct reports, and/or other raters. By offering a wide range of perspectives, 360 feedback gives employees a more thorough understanding of not only their strengths, weaknesses, and development opportunities, but also their impact on others.

Az UCF rövidítés a Universal Competency Framework (Általános Kompetencia Modell) rövidítése és az SHL Group újabb kompetencia modelljén alapul. Egyik nagy előnye, hogy nagyon rugalmas. A kompetencia kérdőív szerkeszthető: a vizsgálatot megrendelő vállalat képviselőivel való megbeszélés alapján kiválasztható 20 kompetencia közül az a kb. 5-10, amely a vállalatot leginkább érdekli, és ez jelentősen lerövidíti a vizsgálat idejét.

Executive Scenarios is a unique test of Managerial Judgement - an individual’s ability to decide on effective ways of handling real life situations. It is specifically designed to assess judgement in Executives; a group who typically has significant work experience to draw on. It consists of hypothetical scenarios, each followed by several possible responses. Candidates rate the effectiveness of each response, using a 6-point scale, from highly undesirable to highly desirable. It can be used for recruitment, selection, training and development, performance management and coaching in a variety of functions and industries.
